This Climate Initiatives Platform is being hosted by UNEP and the UNEP DTU Partnership, through a project funded by the government of the Netherlands.

The platform contains a comprehensive collection of information on international climate mitigation initiatives currently in operation that have potential to contribute to reduction of greenhouse gas emissions; are international in scope or have the potential for significant impact at global scale; and are dialogues, formal multilateral processes or implementation initiatives.

The information on the ICIs includes: Thematic focus, type of initiative, description, goal and activities, participant, funders etc. Use the links above to browse or search the existing data.

CIP was built on a wiki format to enable collaborative development and flexible use. The purpose is to provide an on-line space that allows contributions from participating organisations and users to ensure it remains accurate and up-to-date.

The UNEP DTU Partnership was tasked to run the platform starting January 1st 2016, which includes hosting and maintaining it.

The information included on initiatives was first gathered during Autumn 2014 by Ecofys, the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, and the World Resource Institute. After 1st of January 2016 CIP was taken over by UNEP DTU Partnership. The authors cannot be held liable for the timeliness, correctness and completeness of the information included. For each initiative a Website address is included and users are strongly encouraged to revert to the initiative website for the most comprehensive, timely and accurate source of information.

This website has been published with financial support by the Nordic Council of Ministers and from the Dutch government. However, the contents of this website do not necessarily reflect the views, policies or recommendations of the funders or the authors.
