| Full story text | Airport Carbon Accreditation was launched in June 2009 in Europe. In its inaugural year (2009-2010) the number of airports participating in the programme was 17. In its sixth programme year (2014-2015), Airport Carbon Accreditation reached global status. The programme was extended to North America and Latin America & the Caribbean, thus covering all five ACI regions, as an increasing number of ACI member airports publicly reported on how they are managing their carbon emissions. The total number of accredited airports as of May 2019 was 274, representing more than 43% of world air passenger traffic. |
